Accountabilities

The Staff Product Manager will lead the strategy, development, and evolution of observability capabilities, helping teams and customers gain deeper visibility into applications, infrastructure, and AI-driven workflows. Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for observability products, including logs, metrics, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry integrations, and AI agent monitoring.

Define the future of observability for AI-native applications, including visibility into model calls, tool usage, autonomous agent workflows, and token-based cost management.

Partner closely with engineering teams and product leaders to guide technical decisions around telemetry pipelines, architecture, scalability, and performance.

Drive prioritization across observability initiatives by balancing foundational platform investments with customer needs and business objectives.

Develop a strong product perspective on emerging observability standards, AI workload monitoring, cost attribution, and developer workflows.

Engage directly with customers and internal teams to understand debugging challenges, monitoring requirements, and infrastructure needs.

Translate complex technical challenges into clear product strategies, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.

Collaborate across teams to ensure observability solutions provide reliable insights across the broader platform ecosystem.

Advocate for developer experience and build products that simplify the management of complex software systems.

Requirements

  • Strong product leadership experience combined with technical expertise in observability, infrastructure, developer tools, or AI-powered systems.
  • 7+ years of product management experience with significant exposure to observability, monitoring, infrastructure, or developer-focused products.
  • Strong understanding of the OpenTelemetry ecosystem, including telemetry signals, semantic conventions, collectors, and production instrumentation tradeoffs.
  • Experience working with logs, metrics, traces, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure concepts.
  • Familiarity with AI workload economics, including token pricing, model selection, LLM usage patterns, and cost attribution.
  • Experience building or managing products related to AI agents, LLM platforms, gateways, proxies, or metering solutions is a strong advantage.
  • Deep empathy for developers and engineering teams, with the ability to collaborate on complex technical decisions.
  • Proven ability to turn ambiguous, cross-functional challenges into clear strategies and successful product outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience as an SRE, observability engineer, infrastructure engineer, or contributor to open-source telemetry projects is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience building, evaluating, or instrumenting AI agents in production environments is desirable.
