Staff Product Designer

About the role

This role is part of the Product Design team at Miter, a fast-growing company that uses AI and embedded payments to rebuild core HR, finance, and operations systems for construction contractors. The ideal candidate will lead design strategy and execution, collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to shape the user experience.

Responsibilities

• Own design strategy and execution (interaction design, design system and componentry) across the Miter platform
• Partner closely with peers in engineering and product to shape the user experience for both new and existing Miter apps
• Work directly with our customers to learn about their unique needs and workflows
• Help shape the vision for AI capabilities at Miter and bring a user-centered lens to AI-powered functionality
• Experiment with new AI tools, processes, and ways of working across product, design, and engineering
• Operate with pragmatism and a first-principles approach to help the team deliver value to customers quickly and consistently

Requirements

• 7+ years in product design at a high-growth software company
• Strong user-centered design skills
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills
• A bias for action and delivery
• Achieve 0-1 delivery - prototyping, running design experiments, and delivering incrementally to unlock insights and launch new products
• AI-native in how you work

Qualifications

• Strong portfolio of work demonstrating user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards
• Experience working with high-growth software companies
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Passion for using AI to improve user experience

Skills

• Strong understanding of interaction design, design system, and componentry
• Experience with Figma, Storybook, and other design tools
• Ability to work collaboratively with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams
• Experience with AI tools and processes
