About the role
The Staff/Principal AI Engineer will lead the design and implementation of Everlaw's technical AI strategy, guiding the work of engineers across the company in using AI, collaborating with other software engineers, security engineers, data scientists, product leads and designers, and other cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of Everlaw's technical AI strategy, including staying on the cutting edge of the latest frontier models and participating in early access programs with major AI labs.
- Guide the work of engineers across our company in using AI, sharing learnings and helping others learn.
- Collaborate with other software engineers, security engineers, data scientists, product leads and designers, and other cross-functional teams in the pursuit of our goal of being the AI leader in litigation.
- Be on the lookout for new opportunities that AI enables, influencing our engineering and product direction.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience working in ML/AI, and 10+ years overall in software engineering.
- Experience leading significant AI projects, including applied use of LLMs in production settings and experience with NLP/text analysis.
- Programming skills in at least one scripting language (like Python).
- Able to collaborate effectively with coworkers on different teams.
Qualifications
- You have a strong background in AI and software engineering.
- You are a continuous learner, staying updated on the latest AI developments and their potential applications.
- You have experience with retrieval-based LMs or hybrid approaches with RAG, designing storage and representation of knowledge, exploring multimodal approaches, and building agents to accomplish tasks.
- You have experience with SaaS and distributed systems.
Skills
- Strong understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence principles.
- Experience with natural language processing and text analysis.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (such as Python).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
