About The Team
The Core Cloud Platform team is responsible for AlphaSense’s entire cloud infrastructure, including AWS account management, networking, storage, and Kubernetes clusters. We build the underlying platform that supports hundreds of services and is used by over 400 globally distributed engineers.
About The Role
This is a Staff Engineer role with real breadth. It requires both operational and software development skills, the ability to lead projects, and the need to collaborate with engineering leaders and very senior engineers across dozens of teams. You will be instrumental in setting the architectural roadmap for our Cloud Platform, ensuring scalability and performance align with AlphaSense's rapid growth. We're looking for someone who genuinely embraces AI tooling in their day-to-day work and is motivated to make our infrastructure ever-more AI-friendly.
Who You Are
- Extremely experienced in Kubernetes and its various components, containerization, and AWS cloud
- Proven track record of running Kubernetes and cloud-based production SaaS systems at scale
- Deep understanding of networking and production-level usage of service meshes and gateways
- Strong operational and troubleshooting skills with Kubernetes, databases, messaging systems, and storage layers
- Proficiency in Python and Golang, preferably demonstrated through building infrastructure tooling, Kubernetes operators, or control plane components
- Evangelist of highly performant CI/CD practices that support agentic workflows
- Ability and desire to design, lead, influence, and deliver on ambitious technical roadmaps
- Nice to Have: Management of large fleets of Kubernetes clusters with lifecycle management tools (e.g., CAPI, Rancher)
- Nice to Have: Production usage of HashiCorp Vault or similar secret management systems
- Nice to Have: GCP and Azure knowledge
Responsibilities
- Own, operate, and evolve our cloud and Kubernetes-based platform
- Continuously improve the security, reliability, cost efficiency, and performance of our infrastructure
- Champion standards and drive initiatives to promote uniformity and eliminate duplication
- Collaborate with product teams to enable and empower them to build and own their services
- Work closely with other platform teams (e.g., SRE, DevEx) to create a coherent and quality platform
- Enable truly self-service and agentic workflow patterns that support a "Build it - Own it" model
- Build tooling and AI-powered integrations that reduce the cognitive load of dealing with complex infrastructure operations and systems
- Provide support for the systems we build to a globally distributed engineering organization
- Execute, automate, and support operational tasks on complex and mission-critical systems
- Architect, design, and implement simple and maintainable solutions
Pay
Compensation Range: $223,100—$305,000 USD. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience/expertise and may vary from the amounts listed. You may also be offered equity and a generous benefits program.
