Staff Physicist - Full Time

About the role

The Staff Physicist coordinates the radiation safety program for the radiation oncology department. Performs and reviews all aspects of radiotherapy patient- and equipment-related planning and quality assurance. Assists dosimetrists and physicians in special physics consultation(s) to evaluate feasibility of IMRT, SRS, SBRT, and other therapeutic external beam delivery. Assists therapists in patient set-up and treatment delivery as necessary. Performs all aspects of radionuclide- and brachytherapy-related physics services. Coordinates TLD/Invivo dosimetry services: logs and reviews accelerator performance problems; liaises with service/manufacturer; and troubleshooting. Assesses image guidance capabilities of the imaging systems: image quality, registration, and set-up corrections.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• MS or PhD in physics or medical physics required.
• Competent to successfully interact with patients according to their special needs, including age-specific requirements.

Qualifications

• Certification in therapeutic medical physics (or therapeutic radiological physics or radiological physics) from one of the following:
  • American Board of Radiology
  • American Board of Medical Physics
  • Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine
• State Licensure required.

Pay

$83.22 - $128.99 per hour.
