Responsibilities
- Maintain proper operation of radiation producing equipment to ensure proper patient care.
- Perform periodic equipment checks and report results to administrative personnel.
- Establish proper operating conditions and techniques for new equipment.
- Assist in radiation safety functions.
- Perform dosimetry and treatment planning functions.
- Review and update patient charts for accuracy.
- Participate in mandatory inservices and continuing education programs.
- Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the patient.
- Perform patient procedures as required.
Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of a Medical Physics degree from an accredited school.
- Experience with linear accelerators, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy, and treatment planning.
- American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
- Iowa registration in Medical Physics (MP) in the field of Radiation Therapy.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
