Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive drug profile reviews for multiple correctional facilities
- Review and verify medication orders within the electronic health record and pharmacy dispensing software
- Process and review employee prescriptions within designated verification workflows
- Provide clinical consultation to healthcare providers regarding medication therapy management
- Perform Non-Formulary (NF) medication reviews across all assigned facilities, ensuring appropriate clinical justification and compliance
- Complete final medication verification checks to ensure accuracy prior to dispensing
- Cookordination medication workflow separation between jail and prison populations to maintain operational efficiency and compliance
- Review and verify discharge medications to ensure continuity of care upon inmate release
- Maintain strict adherence to state and federal pharmacy regulations and correctional healthcare policies
- Perform additional pharmacy tasks as assigned to support patient care and medication management
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited pharmacy school
- Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in Alabama
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacist experience preferred, with experience in long-term care, correctional health, institutional, or hospital pharmacy strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state pharmacy regulations, including controlled substance requirements
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy dispensing systems
- Ability to perform high-volume order verification with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated clinical judgment and ability to assess complex medication regimens
- Experience with formulary management and non-formulary review preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple facility workflows simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards
