Job Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
  • Serve as a primary or accountable nurse, considering factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact.
  • Educate patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
  • Utilize a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administer medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
  • Share responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, supplies, and services.
  • Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies.
  • Participate in and support the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
  • Engage in professional development, continuing nursing education, and complete all mandatory education requirements.
  • Integrate nursing research and current evidence into practice.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
  • Perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.
  • Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develop.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Six (6) months to three (3) years of Nursing (RN) experience.
