About the role

The University of Iowa Health Care Otolaryngology (ENT) and Oral Surgery team is seeking Staff Nurses to join a dedicated team providing care for a wide range of patients, from routine procedures to complex surgeries.

Responsibilities

  • Applies nursing theory to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patient responses to health and illness.
  • Achieves patient health care preferences and expectations through collaborative coordination of the continuum of care.
  • Develops and implements patient care plans based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions.
  • Coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Follows universal precautions.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • General computer skills.
  • License to practice nursing in Iowa.

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Active enrollment in a BSN program if Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained.
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.

Pay

$61,183 (at 100% effort) to commensurate* this does not include inpatient or shift differential pay differentials.

Schedule

Monday through Friday rotating 10- or 12-hour shifts. Scheduled weekends, additional on-call shifts, and rotating holidays.
