Staff Nurse MRI Children's South

About the role

The staff nurse is a professional nurse who, with minimal supervision, is responsible for providing nursing care to patients. Patient care includes assessment, interventions, and reassessments of the patient. The nurse is also responsible for planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating care of patients and caregivers.

The Imaging Sedation Nurse will prepare, monitor, and recover patients requiring sedation for CT and MRI at Children’s South and will also work at the main campus to screen sedation patients by phone and assist in all areas of Imaging as needed.

Must be able to use medical equipment, patient records, reports, and computer systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Schedule

On-call/Flexi on the Day Shift, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM, 8-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assess, intervene, and reassess patient care.
• Plan, implement, educate, and evaluate care for patients and caregivers.
• Prepare, monitor, and recover patients requiring sedation for CT and MRI.
• Screen sedation patients by phone and assist in all areas of Imaging as needed.
• Use medical equipment, patient records, reports, and computer systems.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate (ADN), bachelor (BSN), or master’s (MSN) in nursing degree.
• Current RN license in the State of Alabama (Single State or NLC Multi State).
• Current BLS certification (essential).
• PALS certification preferred.
• Minimum of two years clinical nursing experience (pediatric preferred).
• Minimum of one year recent critical care experience (greater than two years preferred).

About the facility

At Children’s South, we perform CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, and X-ray exams. We also provide sedation services for our CT and MRI patients.
