STAFF NURSE - Med/Surg (Telemetry) - Mount Sinai West - Full Time (Night)

About the role

Full-time night shift (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM) with every other weekend required. Position is located at Mount Sinai West in the Med/Surg (Telemetry) unit.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation, and review of patient records.
• Ensure the patient’s progress, or lack of progress, is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Develop and implement discharge planning consistent with the patient’s status, including inter-departmental and inter-agency communication.
• Communicate information to the patient based on their level of awareness and readiness to learn.
• Support orientation of new staff members by observing professional behaviors, providing feedback, and acting as a preceptor, role model, and resource person.
• Function as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
• Assign patient care reflecting an awareness of patient needs and skill level of personnel.
• Organize provision of care to meet priority needs of patients and unit.
• Communicate patient and unit conditions requiring additional intervention to leadership.
• Participate in the development of other staff members.
• Engage in peer appraisal of practice as it relates to self and other nursing personnel.
• Collaborate with team members to meet the needs of the patient and unit through communication and nursing actions.
• Provide direction, assistance, and support to team members.
• Assume accountability and responsibility for completion and quality of assigned tasks.
• Identify and communicate the need for further staff education to immediate supervisor.
• Communicate with nursing leadership to reflect awareness of authorities and responsibilities.
• Seek and utilize nursing leaders as role models and resource persons.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to meet patient and unit needs.
• Reflect the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the Hospital Center in communication and interaction with families and other groups.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Nursing program.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) with matriculation in a BSN program and graduation within the year or ADN with nursing experience approved by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Documented previous experience or educational preparation to support credentials.
• Current RN license (1 year of experience).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (American Heart Association).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association) required for Telemetry Units.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificate required for Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required for Emergency Department (ED), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology (IR), Pediatric ICU, and Pediatric Oncology APNs.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $64.2353 per hour. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need and do not include bonuses, incentive pay, differentials, or other compensation.
