Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care.
- Affirms safety and security of patients, significant others, and staff.
- Demonstrates in-depth clinical knowledge, skills, and expertise.
- Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment of the patient and input from the patient’s family.
- Facilitates therapeutic, informational, or task-oriented groups specific to the discipline of a nurse.
- Adheres to UI Health’s Code of Conduct.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- All other RN duties.
- Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
- Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers.
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
- Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.
- New Graduate Nurses must have passed the NCLEX exam to be considered for this role.
- 1-2 years of inpatient Psychiatric experience preferred.
- Psychiatric Nurse certification a plus.
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
