About the Role

A clinically competent registered professional nurse who delivers patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, delivery of care, patient education, and delegation of nursing tasks. This role requires both cognitive and technical skills to operate complex equipment and assist physician specialists with endoscopic and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the GI Laboratory. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective interaction with physicians, staff, patients, families, and guests. The position demands knowledge and ability to provide culturally and age-appropriate care for adolescent through geriatric populations. Accountability extends to patients, families, and the patient care manager for overall performance.

Responsibilities

• Resolve operational issues related to scheduling.
• Follow Procedural Sedation monitoring protocols.
• Appropriately collect and label all tissue and other specimens.
• Protect equipment from damage due to improper handling or use.
• Demonstrate and validate proper technique for cleaning, disinfecting, and storing of endoscopes.
• Communicate effectively with all team members, patients, and family.
• Document proficiency in GI specialty software applications.
• Formulate and document a nursing plan of care.
• Assess and respond to patient needs, documenting pertinent information relative to patient condition.
• Quickly understand and adapt to new technology.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems.

Requirements

• Call hours required with a 30-minute response time.
• Maintain Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Ohio.
• Maintain certification in CPR, basic arrhythmia, and airway management.
• Complete and maintain Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.

LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, which may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
