Staff Nurse - Emergency Department

About the role

The Staff Nurse provides specialized nursing care grounded in biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences. The position emphasizes family-centered and patient-centered care across all ages and developmental stages, integrating leadership, professional practice, quality improvement, safety initiatives, and staff education (including precepting and mentoring). The nurse collaborates with provider staff to support efficient operations and deliver high-quality pediatric care, while also engaging in evidence-based practice, systems-based practice, informatics, and technology use. Staff may be temporarily assigned to different hospital areas as operational needs arise.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
• Provide leadership and professional nursing duties
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives
• Educate and mentor new employees, including precepting
• Collaborate with provider staff to promote efficient operations
• Support evidence-based practice, systems-based practice, informatics, and technology use
• Perform duties across different hospital areas as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or commitment to obtain within 5 years
• Current RN licensure in Ohio
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience
