About the role
Our surgical ward provides care to adult and paediatric patients from a wide range of specialities including ENT, Ophthalmology, Max Fax, Dental, Orthopaedic, paediatric, as well as general surgery. This busy, diverse ward has 22 beds and incorporates a 2 bedded critical care unit.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of care for patients undergoing surgery both as emergencies and list admissions.
- Ensure the environment is safe and effective for delivery of care to adults and children.
- Provide excellent care from admission to discharge.
- Participate in ward audit, clinical quality indicators and safety cross data collection.
- Flexibility to work in other areas of the organisation, either hospital or community based, is essential.
Requirements
- Registered General Nurse.
- Keen to obtain surgical care knowledge and experience.
- Previous surgical experience is an advantage but not necessary.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential.
