About the role

Black & Veatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in the design of pumps and related mechanical systems supporting Water & Wastewater Treatment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations to develop equipment and system performance parameters for the purpose of sizing pumping equipment.
  • Cook with equipment manufacturers to select the most technically acceptable design solutions.
  • Follow company and industry design practices in development of designs.
  • Authoring specifications, material selection, and purchasing of pumps and pump related equipment.
  • Develop engineering work products including Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), Mechanical arrangement drawings, and Equipment, Piping, and Valve specifications.
  • Review manufacturer's or contractor's submittals, data, reports, etc., for conformance with B&V criteria.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Lead design projects related to pump systems and transient design.
  • Perform quality control (QC) reviews of design documents and deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements and standards.

Requirements

Approximately 15 percent travel. Opportunity to lead projects related to Water and Wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and conveyance throughout the US. Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, with a preference for candidates with 8+ years.
  • Experience in developing detailed project drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience in material and component selection for piping system.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic principles.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Mentoring and coaching capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing or equivalent experience in Engineering work.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
