Staff Mechanical Engineer, Development

As a Staff Engineer, Development, you will join our team in San Jose, CA, in a fully on-site role (5 days a week) to drive sustaining product design and supplier development.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustaining product development for reliability improvement, design for manufacturing, and cost reduction.
• Interface with quality groups to identify field reliability issues, drive root cause analysis, and implement design changes to mitigate failures.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to improve manufacturability, support design changes, and drive testing/implementation.
• Design, validate, and implement changes to reduce product cost.
• Lead technical design transfer to Bloom Energy Contract Manufacturers and suppliers, ensuring production release milestones are met.
• Drive process development and improvement to enhance manufacturability and incorporate lessons learned.
• Address capacity and design for manufacturing issues with suppliers and engineers.
• Provide engineering solutions to challenging design and manufacturing problems for suppliers and internal teams.
• Manage top-level assemblies in a PDM system environment and communicate with suppliers.
• Control drawing and model releases through an ECN process.
• Create and manage SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, and assemblies.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and within the group.
• Provide technical support to field service and quality teams for diagnosing failures and implementing design solutions.
• Interface with manufacturing on design improvements for volume and cost reduction.
• Support NPI, Quality, and Supply Chain in qualifying new suppliers for existing products.
• Work closely with contract manufacturers to qualify existing products and implement design changes on aggressive timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles.
• Proven success working on cross-functional projects.
• Experience with SolidWorks CAD and drafting.
• Experience with revision control using a CAD vault tool.
• Experience with ECN process (Agile).
• CAD modeling experience (SolidWorks).

Pay

Salary range: $134,500.00 - $193,500.00.
