Staff Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Lead field evaluations of in-service equipment and piping systems to correct maintenance and reliability issues in process-industry facilities. Analyze, calculate, and design for new or rehabilitated infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead field and technical evaluations of in-service equipment and piping to provide root-cause failure analysis
• Perform calculations, develop repair drawings, and provide repair/replacement recommendations, specifications, and scope of work packages for construction
• Lead client and contractor interface, attend meetings, and provide written reports
• Provide technical support for field execution, including outage/turnaround projects
• Assist in constructability planning, proposal and estimate development

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.1, ASME VIII Div I & 2
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
• Physical mobility (on the ground and at heights)
• Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding/ladders using appropriate fall protection
• Ability to work in all weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather, steel-toed work boots)
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Willingness to adhere to client-specific site requirements, including random drug testing and facial hair safety policies

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of API 510/570/650/653, AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
• Experience mentoring and leading small teams

Pay

$110,000 - $150,000 annually. The pay range represents a general guideline; actual base salary considers factors such as depth of experience, skill set, certifications, specific work location, and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and other incentive compensation.
