About the role
The Staff Mechanical Engineer is a highly experienced, hands-on technical leader responsible for driving complex engineering programs while actively contributing to mechanical system and component development.
Responsibilities
- Lead major engineering programs with responsibility for technical direction, cross-functional coordination, and ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to leading the Otis Creo and Windchill ecosystem by partnering with IT and external vendors to define and execute a digital engineering roadmap, improving system performance, usability, and scalability.
- Contribute to establishing and enforcing world-class 3D modeling standards, enabling consistency, efficiency, and reuse across global engineering organizations.
- Act as a hands-on design contributor, performing advanced 3D modeling in Creo, developing detailed component and system designs, and applying simulation tools (FEA/structural analysis) to optimize performance.
- Drive product development rigor, bringing expertise in requirements definition, concept evaluation, prototyping, testing, and design-for-manufacture considerations.

- Apply rapid prototyping and iterative development techniques to accelerate learning cycles and validate concepts early.
- Innovate and develop novel technical approaches to achieve program goals, solving difficult or ambiguous engineering challenges.
- Interpret test and qualification results, ensuring alignment with design intent and directing required modifications.
- Support quality and field engineering teams by diagnosing issues, validating corrective actions, and providing technical guidance during problem resolution.
Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of mechanical design, product development, and engineering leadership experience.
- Advanced expertise in 3D CAD modeling (Creo), PLM systems (Windchill/PDMLink), eBOM lifecycle management, and engineering data workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Hands-on expertise in mechanical modeling, system integration, verification, and validation.
- Proven ability to lead complex engineering programs with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrated innovation, strong problem-solving ability, ownership mindset, and persistence in developing novel solutions to technical challenges.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, design-for-manufacture, and the impact of design decisions on cost, quality, and supply chain performance.
- Effectively influences and collaborates across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and global functions.
- Mentors engineers and helps elevate the organization's technical capability.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
Preferred qualifications
- MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and hands-on testing.
- Experience using rapid prototyping tools and techniques.
