Staff/ Lead Engineer
Description
The Staff / Lead Engineer will establish multi-year platform architectures and technical roadmaps for refrigeration systems, focusing on performance efficiency, system robustness, lower-impact refrigerants, and simplified assembly. They will author comprehensive system-level V&V strategies and oversee advanced testing matrices that stress components under extreme environmental conditions, such as high ambient temperatures and door-ajar moisture loading. They will set standards for DFSS, DFM, DFA, DFMEA, and 3D tolerance stack-up processes, drive strategic BOM structures and master routing design within ERP systems, lead executive-level root-cause investigations for complex, systemic failure modes, and partner with Procurement, Quality, and Supplier Development Engineering to evaluate strategic components.
- Drive strategic BOM structures and master routing design within ERP systems.
- Lead executive-level root-cause investigations for complex, systemic failure modes, including frost accumulation, charge leaks, and structural degradation, and implement permanent countermeasures.
- Partner with Procurement, Quality, and Supplier Development Engineering to evaluate strategic components such as compressors, heat exchangers, and controls and to optimize capital-tooling capability.
- Serve as the top technical authority in Technical Design Reviews, mentor senior engineers, and drive continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or HVAC-R.
- Experience: 8+ years of technical leadership in thermal systems, HVAC-R, or refrigeration development, or 6+ years with a relevant master's degree.
- Technical Skills: Expert mastery of thermodynamic cycles, system-level V&V, the SolidWorks/PDM ecosystem, ERP architecture, DFSS methodology, and NPI governance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialized focus on thermal-fluid dynamics, refrigeration, or reliability engineering.
- 10+ years of consumer or commercial refrigeration platform-development experience.
- Demonstrated ability to establish design-for-reliability systems that reduce field-service rates.
- Deep technical leadership experience managing multi-site and cross-functional teams through complex engineering-change escalations.
Perks
- A competitive benefits package including 401(k) matching.
- Company provided life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance.
- Paid time off at start.
- Paid holidays.
- Tuition reimbursement.
- Employee referral program.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.
- Frequent walking on the production floor and within laboratory areas.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety-toe footwear, as required.
