Staff Industrial Wastewater Engineer

About the role

Arcadis is seeking a Staff Industrial Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Industrial Water team in Syracuse, NY. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer passionate about solving complex industrial water challenges and delivering innovative, sustainable treatment solutions for industrial clients across North America.

Role Accountabilities

• Contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of industrial wastewater treatment projects from concept development through commissioning and startup.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and senior technical experts to deliver high-quality projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
• Support client engagements, site investigations, pilot studies, equipment selection, construction support, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting activities.
• Maintain compliance with Arcadis quality, safety, and technical standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Travel (up to 25%) may be required to support client meetings, site assessments, and construction activities.

Key Skills & Experience

• Solid understanding of wastewater treatment processes, process equipment, and treatment system design principles.
• Demonstrated proficiency in engineering calculations, technical report preparation, and data analysis.
• Comfortable working within multidisciplinary project teams and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive learning mindset and desire to develop increasing technical and project responsibilities.
• Experience with industrial wastewater treatment technologies, including biological treatment, membrane systems, filtration, evaporation, crystallization, water reuse, or resource recovery applications.

Qualifications

• Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, 5 years of experience in industrial wastewater treatment engineering.
• PREFERRED Qualifications: Master's degree in Engineering or related field, 7 years of industrial wastewater treatment experience, Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York, or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity within six months of hire.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $94,050 - $131,868. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
