About the role
The Industrial Water Process Engineer will contribute to Arcadis' expanding portfolio of industrial water and wastewater related design projects. They will function as the process engineer on these projects, applying various processes and technologies including physical/chemical primary treatment, biological treatment, membrane treatment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection, thermal evaporation, and crystallization.
Responsibilities
- Function as the process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects
- Apply processes and technologies for physical/chemical primary treatment, biological treatment, membrane treatment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection, thermal evaporation and crystallization
- Receive technical mentoring and guidance from a senior process engineer
- Delegate engineering or scientific calculations/drawings to junior staff
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions and support projects from study phase through design, construction, startup and commissioning, and operation and maintenance of treatment systems
Requirements
- Assist in developing and preparing process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans, and other technical deliverables for a variety of industrial water projects
- Field work will be required, including surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing (at client sites or in our lab in Cary, NC)
- Avoidance of field work is possible if approved by supervisor
- Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings
- Supporting business development including proposal preparation and meetings with clients, and travel as needed for meetings, site visits, etc. (up to 25%)
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility in the industrial water/wastewater field
- Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related field of study with focus on wastewater treatment process engineering preferred
- 7+ years of experience preferred
- Professional engineer registration in one or more states preferred
