Industrial Wastewater Staff Process Mechanical Engineer
About the role
The Industrial Water Process Engineer will function as the process engineer on industrial water/wastewater projects, applying processes and technologies for various treatment methods. They will receive technical mentoring and guidance from a senior process engineer, delegate engineering or scientific calculations/drawings to junior staff, collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams, and support projects from study phase through design, construction, startup, and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and preparing process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans, and other technical deliverables for a variety of industrial water projects.
- Perform field work, including surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing.
- Aid in system commissioning and start-up, including training plant staff.
- Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings.
- Support business development, including proposal preparation and meetings with clients, and travel as needed for meetings, site visits, etc. (up to 25%).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility in the industrial water/wastewater field.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related field of study with focus on wastewater treatment process engineering.
- 7+ years of experience as a professional engineer registration in one or more states.
Qualifications
- Possess a good understanding of different types of industrial wastewater treatment systems.
- Design water and wastewater projects and prepare construction documents including mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, control narratives, technical reports and memoranda, operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals, etc.
- Engineer calculations using computer software (Excel, Mathcad, etc.).
- Write and edit equipment and piping specifications.
- Collaborate and coordinate effectively within a multi-disciplinary project environment.
- Mentor early career engineers.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $76,110 - $114,165. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
Schedule
This is a hybrid work position. Client facilities and projects are located throughout the US, with some international assignments. Preferred locations include Houston, Dallas, Raleigh, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Tampa, Denver, and Philadelphia; however, other locations may also be considered.
