Responsibilities
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective prismatic battery cell suppliers.
- Manage on-going communication channels to ensure alignment on supplier performance, expectations, and improvements.
- Address any issues or concerns promptly to ensure continuity of supply.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supplier performance, such as quality, delivery reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Routinely evaluate supplier performance against set KPIs and rapidly initiate corrective actions.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions aimed at creating maximum value for Lucid.
- Review and revise contracts as necessary to adapt to changing relationship dynamics, business needs or market conditions.
- Monitor contract compliance and address any deviations or discrepancies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with demand planning teams to accurately forecast demand for cylindrical battery cell requirements.
- Implement inventory optimization strategies and collaborate with suppliers to ensure adequate inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing excess inventory.
- Identify and sprint to mitigate any potential risks within the supply chain, including supply disruptions, quality issues, or geopolitical issues.
- Monitor market trends and regulatory changes that may affect the supply of battery cells and take proactive measures to mitigate risks.
- Negotiate commercial terms with key suppliers to drive maximum value for Lucid.
- Analyze supplier costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction or efficiency improvements; lead the negotiations and drive results.
- Track and report cost savings initiatives and their impact on the overall supply chain budget and vehicle BOM cost.
- Lead the cross-functional team from the commercial perspective, ensuring Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Material Planning, and Production are aligned to the overall commodity strategy.
- Lead and participate in regular meetings with project teams to address issues, share updates, and drive collective goals and objectives.
- 10-20% domestic and or international travel required to visit suppliers to address critical supply issues and perform business and program reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering or Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Engineering experience related ideally in Battery Cell & Enclosures.
- Proven experience with complex analysis, consulting, supply chain, and data analytics.
- Impeccable visual presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working independently with excellent judgement as to when stakeholders should be engaged to drive results.
- Able to navigate numerous competing priorities and triage priorities according to business needs.
- Proven interpersonal skills, with a team-first mindset that creates a vibrant, cohesive environment to help resolve problems, cascade best practices and deliver optimal results.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for results, strategy, and sense of urgency and ownership that leads to effective hands-on execution.
- Creative, calculated risk taker with the ability to manage difficult suppliers, mitigate unforeseen problems and resolve disputes while preserving relationships with key stakeholders.
- Proven written and verbal skills as well as organizational and program management capabilities.
- Proficient in Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, ERP systems (SAP or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience specifically within the battery industry or related industries such as electronics, renewable energy, or automotive.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of emerging trends and technologies in the battery space, including key EV battery chemistries, industry leaders, and product roadmaps.
- Experience managing complex global supply chains and working with international suppliers and partners.
- Expertise with import/export regulations and international trade practices.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating large, complex contractual agreements aimed at driving cost reductions, delivery assurance, and process improvements.
- Ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve common goals and objectives.
- Outstanding strategic critical-thinking skills coupled with high emotional intelligence.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business requirements, market conditions, and technological advancements.
- Proficiency in additional languages, particularly Chinese, Japanese or Korean, would be advantageous considering the geographic location of many battery cell suppliers.
