This position involves working on project teams to deliver world-class geotechnical designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across a variety of sectors, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical engineering analyses, design, and evaluation for shallow and deep foundation systems, settlement analyses, slope stability evaluations, retaining structures, seismic effects, and earthwork.
  • Prepare and review engineering design calculations, reports, specifications, construction documents, and other technical documents.
  • Develop work scopes, oversee subsurface exploration, and manage site investigation subcontracts.
  • Support field assignments related to site investigation, foundation, and earthwork construction activities.
  • Perform geotechnical design from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for projects such as power plants, electric transmission and distribution, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, governmental, and military facilities.
  • Design geotechnical components based on project requirements set by project managers.
  • Apply strong knowledge of geotechnical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
  • Update drawings using multiple CAD-related software to verify corrections.
  • Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program with 3 years of experience.
  • Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering (with Geotechnical emphasis) from an ABET-accredited program with 2 years of experience.
  • PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering (with Geotechnical emphasis) preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of standard geotechnical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle field assignments with varying lengths based on project requirements.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with demonstrated critical thinking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and geotechnical analysis programs (e.g., Ensoft LPILE, slope stability software like GeoStudio or UTEXAS4, and CPT software).
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification required.
