About the role
Stantec is seeking a Staff Level Geologist or Scientist to support our team of professionals on environmental site assessment and remediation with emphasis on retail petroleum storage facilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple task requests simultaneously.
- Adhere to the approved scope, budget, and schedule.
- Communicate daily with the project team and clients as needed.
- Oversee complex site assessment and remediation projects with multi-person project teams.
- Perform pre-field preparation for on-site projects including development of health and safety documents, coordinating with subcontractors, and obtaining permits.
- Conduct field work (about 50-75% field work) which will consist of conducting tailgate health and safety meetings, completing utility clearance for sampling locations, supervising drilling, excavation and/or remediation activities, preparation of soil boring logs, groundwater monitoring and soil vapor well construction logs, and the collection of soil, soil vapor and groundwater samples.
- Support environmental and other related site assessment and remediation projects by providing field support, data management, interpretation, and technical assistance.
- This includes completion of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) to support due diligence services.
- Prepare technical reports such as Phase I and II ESAs, monitoring and remediation reports, site characterization reports, and corrective action plans presenting remediation plans, project budgets, key findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Assist in the management of multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
- Aid in the review and tracking of project related invoices from contractors, other consultants, and equipment vendors.

Requirements
Reports to Senior Project Manager or Senior Technical Lead.
Credentials
- Ability to work on site assessment, remediation, and other related environmental projects.
- Knowledge and experience applying regulatory and safety requirements.
- Knowledge and experience completing Phase I and II ESAs in conformance with applicable ASTM International standards.
- Experience in implementing and managing site assessment and remediation fieldwork programs.
- Willing and able to travel – expected 50-75% field to 25-50% office-based ratio of supporting multiple projects.
- Excellent internal and client communication skills to implement and coordinate fieldwork programs.
- Team player with experience supporting a team of Project Managers and Support Staff.
- Excellent writing, strategic thinking, and “people” skills.
- Knowledge of the local regulatory climate, and proven experience in the completion of site assessment and remediation projects with state and local regulatory oversight (prior experience working with the Colorado Division of Oil and Public Safety regulations and reporting structures is preferred).
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-Hour certification required, and 8-hour OSHA Supervisor certification, a plus.
- Prior to employment, this position may require the successful passing of a pre-employment physical.
Qualifications
- BS and/or MS in Geology, Science, or related discipline and 2-4 years of relevant site investigation and remediation experience, including environmental consulting experience.

Pay
$59,000.00 - $82,500.00 Annually
