Staff Geologist - Environmental Remediation (Denver)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare environmental investigation work plans, reports, feasibility studies, etc.
  • Prepare Phase I environmental site assessments
  • Execute and guide environmental site assessments, including subsurface soil and low-flow groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, soil characterization and logging, etc.
  • Perform project and task management duties on remediation projects
  • Subcontractor contracting, scheduling, and management of field activities
  • Work closely with project teams and field personnel to complete and review projects within scope, budget and schedule
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or closely related field from an accredited program
  • Minimum of 4 years of related professional experience completing environmental investigations, analyzing and summarizing investigation data, preparing environmental reports, etc.
  • Demonstrated aptitude performing environmental field monitoring activities, including collection of soil and groundwater samples, logging soil borings, installing and developing groundwater monitoring wells, data analysis, and authoring reports
  • Experience in the field supporting remedial actions, including emergency response, excavation oversight, in-situ treatments, soils and waste management, site restoration, etc.
  • Experience with and working knowledge of State and Federal Regulations
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with annual updates
  • Self-motivation and the ability to self-manage and multi-task (write reports, analyze data, perform design tasks, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and ability to work within a team framework
  • Previous consulting experience is a plus
  • Experience investigating coal combustion residuals (CCR) at regulated facilities is strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel and work in the field, up to 30%, as required
