About the Role
Our client is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to develop embedded firmware and Linux-based software for advanced processing and interface products supporting next-generation military vehicle platforms. This role will collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to develop mission-critical computing, graphics, and interface solutions from design through integration and testing.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop firmware for electronic components and subsystem processing and interface products.
- Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineers to develop video, image, and graphics processing solutions.
- Develop and review system requirements and convert them into engineering work packages.
- Perform embedded Linux development for advanced computing platforms.
- Develop bare-metal C software for Xilinx FPGA devices using Vitis.
- Develop system constraints and support hardware/software integration.
- Perform debugging through laboratory testing and hardware validation.
- Develop Yocto Linux solutions for NVIDIA Jetson and Xilinx Ultrascale platforms.
- Develop Linux device drivers for custom peripherals.
- Support Linux driver development, bootloaders, and embedded system programming.
- Participate in Agile software development and continuous integration activities.
- Support firmware verification, troubleshooting, and product integration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 7-10 years of embedded firmware or embedded software development experience.
- Strong experience with Linux and Linux device driver development.
- Proficiency with C, C++, Qt, Git, Bitbucket, and Yocto.
- Experience developing bare-metal C software for Xilinx FPGA platforms using Vitis.
- Experience with embedded operating systems including Linux, VxWorks, PetaLinux, RTOS, virtualization, BSPs, and GVOS.
- Experience with serial and networking protocols including RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
- Experience with Linux image build systems such as Yocto.
- Familiarity with Eclipse, GCC, Makefiles, GDB, DOORS, Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence.
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson platforms, V4L2, and GStreamer.
- Familiarity with CUDA and OpenCV.
- Experience using Git-based revision control and Agile development methodologies.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MOSA, SOSA, GCIA, and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN).
- Knowledge of Intel, AMD, ARM, VPX, VME, and COM Express architectures.
- Experience with PCIe, DDR, USB, SATA, Ethernet, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, and solid-state storage technologies.
- Familiarity with graphics and video interfaces including HDMI, DisplayPort, HD-SDI, LVDS, and RS-170.
- Experience with Xilinx FPGA design and simulation tools.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design practices and military standards including MIL-1275, MIL-461, MIL-464, and MIL-810.
- Experience with Six Sigma design methodologies, DFMEA, and reliability analysis.
- Previous experience supporting ground combat vehicle programs.
Clearance Requirements
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship may be required.
