About the Role

Diagnose and develop repair/restoration solutions for the built environment, including all major components and systems of buildings and other infrastructure. Projects range from property condition assessments to detailed evaluations of structural systems, roofs, facades, plaza deck and below-grade waterproofing systems, MEP systems, pavements, industrial floors, and construction materials.

Assessment techniques include visual examination, non-destructive testing, instrumentation and load testing, laboratory testing, and destructive examinations. Client deliverables range from reports of findings and recommendations to development of restoration design documents and construction oversight/administration.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute routine and sometimes more complex projects, typically on small to medium-sized projects.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate assessments, inspections, and testing of property, buildings, and roofs.
• Draft reports and other client deliverables under the direction of more senior consultants.
• Make recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for review and consideration by senior consultants.
• Participate on projects of greater complexity within more detailed portfolios.
• Perform or oversee contract administration for small-to-large projects.
• Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in building science or related building field and 5-7 years’ experience in facility assessment. Or, in lieu of a degree, 9-11 years’ related experience.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), or equivalent certification.
