This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled. Primary locations: US-MO-Kansas City or US-TX-Houston. Full-time role with up to 10% travel.

About the role

The Staff Estimator will perform FEL 1, 2, and 3 estimates and participate in the development of EPC and bid-check estimates for Midstream projects, with an emphasis on renewable gas plants and compressor stations. This position focuses on developing accurate, credible bottom-up estimates while minimizing risk to the company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop factored and bottom-up FEL 1, 2, and 3 (conceptual, feasibility, and budget authorization) estimates for pipeline facility projects, particularly renewable gas plants and compressor stations.
  • Create estimate schedules to manage workload and ensure timely completion.
  • Review RFP and engineering documents for gaps and overlaps in scope of work.
  • Document quantity take-offs and conduct constructability analysis in detail.
  • Ensure the accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions.
  • Review project summary schedules for validity.
  • Support the development of risk registers and assist in the risk review process.
  • Ensure compliance with estimating methodology to produce quality estimates.
  • Participate in project team reviews for estimating quantities and project scope.
  • Review and incorporate quotes for bonds and insurance.
  • Perform solicitations and evaluations for small and disadvantaged businesses.
  • Support subcontractor pre-qualification, solicitation, and bid reviews.
  • Review and verify subcontractor bid packages before transmission for quotes.
  • Review and incorporate specialty and standard equipment and material pricing.
  • Support the development of general conditions, indirect costs, and review with the project management team.
  • Support the review of the final estimate and its presentation to management.
  • Present the estimate to internal and external clients.
  • Support the Section Manager in determining man-hour estimates for required estimating effort.
  • Review and validate value engineering items, alternates, and options.
  • Update cost history and manage the estimating database.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, and 3 years of direct project estimating experience required.
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification required.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick, sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with estimating software preferred.
  • Experience with oil, gas, chemical, power, or industrial construction practices preferred.
