Staff Environmental Engineer, Environmental Scientist, or Geologist 1
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental field investigations and assessments of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, etc., using approved industry standard procedures.
- Conduct or oversee geologic site characterization including sub-surface explorations, monitoring well siting and construction, soil vapor probe installation, field sampling, and waste management.
- Conduct all field efforts in accordance with proposed work scopes and data quality objectives.
- Conduct field investigations independently while keeping project teams informed on progress, issues observed, and potential deviations from plans.
- Support with organization, reduction, and synthesis of project field data.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
- Apply academic training and use computer software to perform calculations and evaluation of information available site data.
- Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
- Assist with the development of technical scopes of work and cost estimating for proposal efforts on small- to medium-sized tasks or project opportunities.
- Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- Demonstrate our foundational safety behaviors.
Skills/Experience
- Minimum Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field.
- 0-2 years of related environmental consulting field experience.
- Proficient technical writing, verbal communication, reasoning, and time-management skills.
- Able to work independently or with minimal direction in performing tasks and assignments under the direction of senior staff.
- Desire to learn and grow in their profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite software.
- Preferred Skills:
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.

Pay
The salary range for this position in San Jose, CA is $70,720.00 - $80,121.60 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
