Staff Engineering Technician

Major Responsibilities

• Must have overhead transmission design experience.
• PLS-CADD experience is a plus.
• This opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Technology, Commercial & Industrial Market Sector, supporting Grid projects such as Overhead Transmission Line, while building critical infrastructure for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.
• Structural Engineering Technicians contribute to the design, analysis, and detailing of structural components and systems that support these advanced industrial and commercial facilities.
• The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high-quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects.
• Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying structural models, drawings, and details using advanced techniques in industry standard design tools, such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and PLS-CADD.
• Provides technical guidance and may offer directions to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Diploma or Certificate required. Associate degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
• Typically, a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• May support field activities. Focuses on the needs of internal clients while utilizing an understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.
• Proactively seeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes.
• May apply judgment and makes decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.
