Staff Engineer (Java)
About the role
You’re a senior software engineer who leads through technical excellence. You enjoy solving complex engineering problems, mentoring developers, and building scalable, reliable systems. This is a hands-on technical leadership role—you’ll spend most of your time designing, coding, reviewing, mentoring, and delivering software while helping your team raise the engineering bar.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for an agile engineering team.
- Design, develop, and deliver scalable Java applications using Java 17/21 and SpringBoot.
- Build cloud-native, distributed, and event-driven solutions.
- Lead technical design discussions and perform high-quality code reviews.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
- Drive AI-assisted software development to improve quality and productivity.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams to deliver customer value.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Expert-level Java development experience (Java 17/21 preferred).
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
- Experience building distributed, event-driven applications.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or similar messaging technologies.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud platforms.
- Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases, performance tuning, and debugging.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices.
- Passion for mentoring engineers and leading by example.
- Strong AI adoption mindset with experience using AI tools to accelerate software development.
