The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for the techno-functional impact analysis, design & code construction activities associated with development of software releases for the CVS Retail Pharmacy systems. The current suite of systems includes multiple applications including, but not limited to, the Tier 1 systems for Retail Pharmacy. The Staff Software Development Engineer will be involved throughout the entire development life cycle of a product and must be able to deliver an efficient solution, as well as identify and properly mitigate any risks to the product before deployment to production.

Responsibilities

  • Perform techno-functional impact analysis, design, and code construction for software releases in CVS Retail Pharmacy systems.
  • Develop efficient solutions and mitigate risks before deployment to production.
  • Work throughout the entire development life cycle of a product.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software development experience in enterprise/web applications.
  • 5+ years of experience as a full stack developer in Java-based technologies including microservices and Spring Boot framework/REST.
  • 5+ years of experience with Cloud Technologies like Azure, GCP, or other public cloud services, and knowledge of open-source packages especially those provided by Apache, Google, and Spring.
  • 2+ years of experience in React JS, Node.js, or other front-end frameworks; ability to develop effective engineering practices and processes with responsive UI design and development.
  • 5+ years of experience in Database – SQL, NoSQL, table structure, data relationships.
  • 3+ years of experience in Agile development practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Retail Pharmacy or Healthcare domain.
  • Knowledge of GraphQL/gRPC.
  • Expert knowledge of software engineering best practices with experience building complex software engineering products.
  • Extensive experience with building and driving adoption of software engineering best practices.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud computing, and microservices architectures.
  • Worked as a Full Stack Developer with experience building mission-critical/highly scalable applications with large user/infrastructure footprint.
  • Strong background in software development, project management methodologies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter, and ability to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices with expertise in working in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals.

Pay

The typical pay range for this role is $118,450.00 - $284,280.00. This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
