Staff Engineer, Field Applications
About the role
Micron Semiconductor Products, Inc. works with customers to determine the best memory footprint and system configuration for specific target applications in the Data Center space. This role serves as a primary technical contact for Micron’s customers and various departments within Micron.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to local customers (Compute, Networking, and Storage customers) and the field sales force, including applications advice, product recommendations, device testing/updating at customer site, technical problem resolution, training, and quality issue resolution.
- Solve customers' systems configuration and setup challenges and issues.
- Work with factory applications engineers to develop solutions meeting customer performance and power requirements.
- Collaborate with internal marketing and development teams to determine feasibility of specific new products, packaging, or features and ensure customer specifications are met.
- Identify and communicate the needed customer-focused collateral (e.g., product guides, cross-references, datasheets, system compatibility guides).
- Work with customers to handle quality issues in customer manufacturing and field applications.
- Provide internal strategic direction for customer systems applications and quality-related objectives through collaboration with global field support teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 60 months of experience progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in an Applications Engineering-related occupation.
- Experience in Memory/storage (HDD or SDD) product design/engineering, product, test, system validation, or application engineering.
- Systems experience, including Datacenter architecture, systems design, test, and troubleshooting.
- System integration experience with Storage products including HDD or SDD.
- Exposure to other memory technologies including DRAM.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills including lab testing and debug.
Qualifications
- Must be able to telecommute part-time.
Skills
- Strong technical skills in memory/storage product design/engineering, systems design, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of data center architecture and storage products.
Benefits
