About the role

This position is for a Staff Electrical Engineer in the field of embedded electronic systems with focus on electronic hardware development, system integration, and component development for our dispenser products. The Staff Engineer will serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert, driving innovation, setting design standards, and mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and review of electronic hardware components, including schematics and component selection.
  • Provide guidance and oversight on PCB design/layout best practices (signal integrity, power integrity, EMC/EMI, manufacturability), even if not performing layouts directly.
  • Drive technical roadmaps for electronic hardware platforms and ensure scalability across product lines.
  • Establish design guidelines, workflows, and tools for the electrical engineering team.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams (software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing) to align requirements and integration.
  • Mentor junior and senior engineers, providing coaching, feedback, and leadership in design reviews.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities such as accountability, decision-making, and the ability to influence across teams.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex system-level issues (HW/SW/PCB interactions).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, regulatory, and payment certification standards (e.g., PCI, EMC, UL).
  • Support new product introduction by working closely with operations and manufacturing teams.
  • Actively develop skills in people leadership and team management with the goal of transitioning into future management opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in electronic hardware design and development with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Knowledge: Strong system-level knowledge of embedded hardware architectures, microcontrollers, and integration.
  • Skills: Proven track record of leading technical projects, mentoring peers, and influencing cross-functional teams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Tools: Familiarity with PCB design and layout tools (Altium, OrCAD, or equivalent) is preferred, but not required.
  • Development: Demonstrated interest in developing leadership and management skills for future growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: Experience with SolidWorks for electro-mechanical integration.
  • Methodologies: Advanced problem-solving methodologies (DFX, DFSS, FAST, or equivalent).
  • Programming: Familiarity with programming for microcontrollers (C) and system-level validation.
  • Protocols: Experience with communication bus protocols such as SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and USB.
  • Manufacturing: Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and design constraints for volume production.
  • Compliance: Experience in compliance and certification processes (PCI, EMI/EMC, safety).
  • Leadership: Previous experience leading cross-functional initiatives or mentoring other engineers.
