Staff Engineer - Android (REMOTE)

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Engineer - Android (REMOTE) to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space. This role will own the development and technical direction of scalable Android applications, with a strong focus on architecture, code quality, and delivery excellence. You will partner closely with product and design teams to shape impactful features and help remove roadblocks across the engineering organization. The position also includes mentoring engineers, strengthening best practices, and supporting incident response in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Drive development, testing, documentation, and deployment of scalable software
• Shape team strategy by leveraging industry and product knowledge
• Lead technical execution of complex features from ideation to deployment
• Define and enforce engineering principles and best practices
• Collaborate with product and design teams for impactful technical decisions
• Lead incident resolution during on-call rotations
• Identify and remove project roadblocks through cross-team collaboration
• Conduct code reviews to enhance code quality
• Steer planning and design discussions with innovative solutions
• Champion improvements in software quality and team documentation
• Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning
• Occasional travel for conferences and team-building activities

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building highly scalable Android applications with MVI Architecture
• Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin, capable of mentoring others
• Strong knowledge of Android best practices and user considerations
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and Direct Injection or ServiceLocator patterns
• Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration and improvement
• Excellent communicator of complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Proven expertise in Agile software delivery and SCRUM methodology
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Pay

$144,000 – $235,000 annually
