The Role
We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. The ideal candidate will lead complex technical initiatives across engineers within the domain of financial data operations, including commissions payments, incentive programs, and other critical backend financial systems.
Responsibilities
- Drive financial data operations, including commissions payments, incentive programs, and other critical backend financial systems.
- Lead complex technical initiatives across engineers within your domain, ensuring the accuracy, scalability, and reliability of data pipelines that power financial processes.
- Partner closely with Finance, Product, and Engineering stakeholders to define strategy, shape the technical roadmap, and deliver systems that support high-stakes financial workflows.
- Operate as a technical leader, making architectural decisions and delivering solutions with lasting impact over quarters and years.
- Build platform-level tooling to allow faster onboarding of data sources, integrate data with partners, create faster experimentation cycles, and build the analytics and data science data infrastructure to enable more rapid decision loops.
Requirements
- 8+ years as a software engineer
- Expertise in Python, Terraform, SQL, and Spark
- Expertise in building large-scale finance, payments, and commissions systems
- Expertise in Cloud Architecture - AWS
- Preferred: Proven leadership of projects involving multiple teams across functional domains
- Excellent communication skills both with engineering colleagues and senior business leaders
Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes
- Experience with financial systems and commissions processing
- Experience with data science and analytics
Benefits
- Competitive salary range: $168,600 - $215,000
