General Description/ Primary Purpose
The position will review and analyze large datasets related to concrete materials and rigid pavement performance. This role coordinates with operations staff to continuously improve pavement data collection, processing, and analysis through use of emerging technologies that enhance the quality, reliability, and long-term value of pavement materials and performance evaluation data. This position is located on-site in the Pavement Research Unit of the FDOT State Materials Office in Gainesville, FL.
Job Functions
- Data analysis of all concrete-related full-scale pavement testing and supplementary laboratory testing.
- Continuous review of concrete related data to ensure accuracy.
- Cordination with the UNF Operations Team to support sensor condition, calibration needs, and any procedures or needs to ensure reliable data quality.
- Conducting advanced analytical techniques (or AI-based techniques) to concrete materials and performance data.
- Contributing to database development, data reporting, data visualization, data accessibility
- Focus on data Quality Control (QC) and verification reported data.
- Contributing to the efforts pertaining to concrete in designing the experiments, development of test plans, identifying proper sensor types, modifying test tools, analysis of the data, and reporting research findings.
- Identification of research needs related to concrete.
- Reporting on analytical findings and final deliverables.
- Implementation and ongoing development of new technologies and infrastructure to improve pavement data collection, processing, analysis, and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvements in this area moving forward.
Required Qualifications
- The Staff Concrete Research Engineer is expected to have 2+ years experience in concrete pavement research and design with an advanced university degree preferred.
- The position requires clear communication and strong presentation (written and oral) skills.
