Staff Clinician, Licensure Track
About the role
The University Counseling Center (UCC) is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and aligned under the Wellness Team. Accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and American Psychological Association (APA), the UCC provides crisis intervention, outreach, workshops, group, individual, and relationship therapy to support the University of Pittsburgh’s diverse student population. The team is committed to cultural humility, justice, and inclusion. The University is seeking a recent Master’s graduate to join the UCC as a Pre-Licensed Clinician with generalist experience; additional training or experience with eating disorders, trauma, and/or substance use is welcomed.
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced-level clinical psychotherapy services addressing a range of mental health concerns for a broad student/client population.
- Utilize specialized techniques to foster student development, remediate mental health problems, and promote positive mental health.
- Facilitate comprehensive assessments and treatments, referrals for hospitalizations, and case reviews.
- Deliver direct and indirect services including individual, relationship, and group therapy; clinical consultation; outreach programming; and clinical supervision and training as assigned.
- Participate in twice-weekly individual supervision and one hour of group supervision per week.
- Provide intake services, crisis intervention, and outreach programming.
- Collaborate with students, veterans, Office of Disability Services, faculty, and other University staff as needed.
- Facilitate coordination of services and provide back-up for other therapists as required.
- Serve on committees within and outside of the UCC.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- No prior experience required.
- Must be working toward licensure; independent licensure not required (LSW or LAPC preferred).
- Eligible for PA Act 153 clearances and background checks.

Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends. Hybrid work arrangement combining on-campus and remote work as determined by the department.
