About the role
The Staff Battery Pack Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing the lithium-ion battery systems for our electric vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in battery technology, including the design, manufacturing, and testing of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design lithium-ion battery systems utilizing 3DX
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure battery systems meet performance, safety, and cost requirements, as well as integration with the overall vehicle platform
- Create test plans and conduct testing and analysis of battery systems to identify and resolve any issues
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure high-quality battery components
- Create boundary diagrams and device transmittals
- Coordinate CAE simulations for both mechanical and thermal systems
- Maintain documentation and records related to battery system designs and testing results
- Stay up-to-date with the latest battery technology and industry trends to ensure our electric vehicles remain competitive
Requirements
- Bachelor's or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Experience developing products for mass production with injection molding, stamping, forging, and casting
- Define the requirements and specifications for battery development
- Drive battery and system design, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Plan, coordinate and execute battery validation tests, covering various aspects such as system, safety, thermal, data, barrier, vehicle, dyno/bench, life, charging and cell performance
- Participate in DFMEA and PFMEA activities
- Manage external vendors and partners for testing and manufacturing
- Main integrator of cell and electronics within the battery pack
- Familiar with adhesives and thermal interface materials
- Experience specifying fuses, contactors, relays, busbars and high voltage and low voltage connectors
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Engineering
- Hands-on experience building and launching automotive products
- 3DX experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using Confluence, Jira, Asana, or other project management tools
- An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
- A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement

Ranges from $146,520-276,600
