About the role

The attorney in this position will serve in the Special Litigation Division, representing the Attorney General and the People of the State of Michigan as ratepayer/consumer advocate in energy-related cases and other proceedings before the Michigan Public Service Commission, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, as well as state and federal courts and agencies. The attorney may also work on matters involving the Utility Consumer Participation Board, the State 911 Committee, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), and PJM.

Responsibilities

  • Handle assignments of limited factual and legal complexity, including providing day-to-day legal advice to state agencies.
  • Represent the state in state and federal administrative proceedings and courts.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law.
  • Membership in good standing in the Michigan State Bar.

Qualifications

  • Attorney-Staff P15: No specific type or amount of legal experience is required.
  • Attorney-Senior P16: Four years of post-bar admission legal experience.

Pay

$33.53 – $71.64 hourly
