About the Role
This part-time Staff Assistant position supports the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) curriculum administration at Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, providing strong customer service to medical students as they navigate the curriculum. Under the direction of the Director of Problem-Based Learning, the role assists faculty and students in teaching, evaluation, and coordination of PBL activities.
Responsibilities
- Understand and adhere to Rowan-Virtua SOM compliance standards, including corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Coordinate services such as PBL room maintenance, cleaning, and repairs.
- Perform inventory control and order office and classroom supplies for the PBL program.
- Assist students and faculty with session coordination during Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning PBL-1 and PBL-2 classes.
- Monitor and track PBL classroom technology; contact vendors and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Assist with set-up of supplies and technology for Osteopathic Clinical Skills labs.
- Proctor examinations when needed.
- Maintain an updated spreadsheet for faculty and/or student absences in conjunction with the Associate Director for PBL and other Academic Affairs staff.
- Prepare for blocks by assembling and copying content for facilitator binders, communicating with facilitators, updating information on the PBL common Google Drive, and preparing classrooms.
- Summarize minutes of PBL facilitator block meetings and disseminate to appropriate faculty and staff.
- Support the PBL department with coordinating meetings, room reservations, and travel arrangements.
- Assist students and faculty in the DxR Platform, including entering corrections as approved by block directors.
- Provide cross-coverage for other members of the administrative team as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related discipline, plus one (1) year of related experience in a business office, government agency, or university setting. Applicants lacking the degree may substitute appropriate related experience on a year-to-year basis.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Familiarity with Canvas and One45 preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and equity.
- Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and ability to work cooperatively with faculty, students, and staff.
- Strong customer service focus.
Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $25.81 to $30.85, with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
