JC Music is a private, family-owned business focused on the sales, rental, and service of musical instruments. We are a growing store with opportunities in sales, management, office, repair service, and faculty positions. About the Role
All positions require knowledge of musical instruments along with a solid educational background or pursuit of one. We value personnel who contribute to maintaining a high-quality retail experience in music education and instrument sales.
Store Hours
- Monday–Friday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Faculty: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Responsibilities
Staff Positions
- Sales of musical instruments and accessories
- Customer service and instrument knowledge
- Store operations, including inventory and merchandising
Faculty Positions
- Teach private lessons in your primary instrument(s)
- Follow a unified teaching philosophy and curriculum
- Prepare students for recitals and performances
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress (for younger children)
- Recommend method books for students at various levels (beginner to advanced)
Requirements
- Knowledge of musical instruments (specific areas of expertise may be required depending on the role)
- Solid educational background or active pursuit of one
- Availability to work within store hours (flexibility preferred)
Qualifications
Staff Positions
- Experience with sales, customer service, or retail operations
- Proficiency in areas such as:
- Brass, woodwind, string, or percussion instruments
- Guitars (acoustic, electric), amplifiers, effects, or accessories
- Pro-audio, keyboards, or Latin percussion
- Instrument repair or maintenance (e.g., restringing guitars, reed knowledge)
- Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Photoshop)
- Social media marketing or e-commerce
- Reading music
- Experience with computers and social media (desired)
Faculty Positions
- Teaching experience (preferred but not required for all applicants)
- Experience studying under established teachers (desired)
- Ability to recommend method books for:
- Adult beginners
- Beginning children
- Advanced students
- Philosophy of teaching that addresses:
- Music reading ability and technique
- Parental involvement for younger students
- Balancing student interests with a structured curriculum
- Recitals and performance opportunities
- Note: Faculty are not independent contractors; they follow a guiding teaching philosophy.
