Qualifications

  • 10 years work experience / degree in electrical engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Masters degree or higher very desirable.
  • Extensive experience in analog or mixed-signal IC design.
  • Proven track record of successful IC tape-outs and silicon validation.
  • Experience delivering designs from concept through layout to production.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineers.
  • Publishations or patents in analog/mixed-signal design (preferred).
  • Successful engineering team leadership and/or management experience desirable with strong engineering communication and collaboration skills.
  • Design experience in several of: RF Amplifiers, LNAs, Mixers, VGAs, Data converters, PLL, VCOs, clock generation, Bandgaps, and Op-amps is a must.
  • Absolutely necessary to have practical experience in bringing blocks or complete paths from design through layout to production.
  • Expert-level ability to design and analyze complex analog circuits with the skill to optimize designs for specific applications.
  • Demonstratable understanding of deep submicron technologies.
  • Understanding of electromigration, aging and technology limitations required.
  • Experience with FinFET design is a plus.
  • Expertise in mixed-signal IC design and integration, including signal integrity, noise mitigation, and power optimization.
  • Fluency with industry tools including Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, EMX, Spice, Heatwave, etc.
  • Deep understanding of IC layout considerations, including parasitics, matching, and performance optimization, with the ability to guide layout decisions.
  • Understanding of RF microwave concepts including impedance matching, power transfer, isolation, transmission line design, and s-parameters is a plus.
  • Test and debug experience required. Experience with test equipment, strong lab skills and silicon evaluation is very desirable.
  • Candidate must have collaborated across disciplines to ensure products meet customer requirements and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform feasibility, conceptual and detailed design of mixed-signal Integrated Circuits (ICs) in deep sub-micron CMOS technologies.
  • Design and develop analog and mixed-signal circuits and blocks, ensuring performance across process, voltage and temperature variations.
  • Evaluate customer requirements and decipher information into both chip level and block level specifications, including area, cost and power tradeoffs.
  • Move beyond schematic design to anticipate tradeoffs in physical design and block interaction.
  • Floorplan and guide physical design (layout) engineers to deliver implementations that meet requirements.
  • Collaborate with RF engineers on laminate design including ball-out planning, RF performance, isolation and matching and overall verification.
  • Assist product engineers with silicon validation and debug by conducting measurements and analyzing lab data.
  • Collaborate with product definers, verification engineers, process engineers, test engineers, and application engineers to ensure designs meet performance objectives.
  • Create and present design and evaluation review documentation while working with engineers in geographically disparate locations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers, including participation in design reviews.
