Staff AI Scientist

About the role

Join the Intuit AI team as a Staff AI Scientist and build models that directly impact hundreds of thousands of customers. In this collaborative and creative environment, you will develop and deploy machine learning models using analytical algorithms and deep learning approaches.

Responsibilities

• Practice leadership and communication skills to influence teams and evangelize AI science across the organization.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define success criteria and align model metrics with business goals.
• Work side-by-side with product managers, software engineers, and designers to design experiments and minimum viable products.
• Lead the technical work of a scrum team: initiate and design model solutions, drive end-to-end architecture designs, and ensure high-quality code, Git practices, design, cost management, and implementation standards.
• Perform hands-on data analysis and modeling with large datasets, including data discovery, access, cleanup, and preparation for modeling (ETL and featurization).
• Apply data mining, NLP, and machine learning techniques (e.g., supervised/unsupervised, Causal-ML, Online Learning, Bayesian Learning, Reinforcement Learning, or Deep Learning) to real-world problems.
• Run A/B tests, analyze impact, and communicate results to peers and leaders.
• Ensure successful delivery and integration of data science solutions by collaborating with partners.
• Proactively research, explore, and enable new ML technologies, staying updated with academic and industry developments to solve Intuit customer problems.

Requirements

• 4+ years of industry experience in AI science.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Operations Research, or equivalent.
• 4+ years of hands-on expertise in ML paradigms such as Causal-ML, supervised/unsupervised, Online, Bayesian, Reinforcement, or Deep Learning.
• Proficiency in multiple optimization paradigms (e.g., combinatorial optimization, gradient methods, Bayesian optimization).
• Proficiency in NLP techniques, Explainable AI, and ML frameworks.
• Expertise in modern analytical tools and programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java, and/or R.
• Efficient in SQL, Hive, SparkSQL, and comfortable working in a Linux environment.
• Experience building end-to-end reusable pipelines from data acquisition to model output delivery.
• Quick learner, adaptable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical users.

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position is $209,500 - $283,500 (New York). Pay is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. Intuit conducts regular pay equity comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender.
