About the role

Responsible for completing day-to-day general financial accounting processes and providing financial guidance and analysis to ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of financial and statistical data in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), governmental regulations, and accounting policies. Works in close partnership with the Financial Planning, Financial Reporting, Tax, Supply Chain, Legal, Human Resources, and Information Technology teams.

Responsibilities

  • Complete ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and special assignments as needed.
  • Monitor, evaluate, implement, and adhere to internal controls over areas of responsibility.
  • Perform monthly closing procedures, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and statistical analysis to ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, governmental regulations, accounting policies, and the financial close schedule.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and reports, including comparison to budget and historical trends, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and U.S. GAAP for all internal/external reporting requirements.
  • Investigate, research, and participate in developing and implementing new policies or procedures related to internal financial reporting matters.
  • Review assigned areas of responsibility for continuous process improvement and participate in developing and implementing improved procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of and response to internal and external auditors’ requests and queries.
  • Respond to requests and queries related to reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare analysis of estimation and risk areas while providing input and recommendations for issue resolution to Accounting Management.
  • Maintain job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in accounting.
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and government rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general ledger and related financial and revenue cycle business intelligence systems (e.g., Workday and Epic).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of staff, management, executives, providers, physicians, and external organizations.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar products.
  • Proactive, self-starter capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.

Schedule

Days; 40 hours a week. Position may require evening and weekend hours during month-end, quarterly, and annual reporting periods.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Exposure to standard office environment.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Position may require travel, which may result in exposure to road and weather hazards.
