Staff Accountant

About the role

Our client has an immediate need for a highly analytical Senior Staff Accountant to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This is a newly created position reporting directly to the Controller, offering strong visibility and the opportunity to step into a well-rounded accounting role with long-term potential. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys digging into financial data, and wants to take ownership of key accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the full month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Perform detailed variance analysis to identify trends and provide actionable insights
• Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions across multiple entities
• Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
• Support budgeting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting initiatives
• Supervise and support the Credit / Accounts Receivable Analyst
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation, including related journal entries
• Analyze inventory reports and recommend process improvements
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership to support business needs

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Experience with variance analysis and intercompany transactions
• Background in manufacturing or distribution is a plus
• Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Detail-oriented with a proactive, improvement-focused mindset
