Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns for individuals, businesses, and partnerships while ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Contribute to tax planning efforts and assist with activities that support ongoing compliance requirements.
- Record financial transactions, post journal entries, and maintain the general ledger for client accounts.
- Produce financial statements and help keep accounting records complete, organized, and up to date.
- Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Absorb month-end and year-end closing activities to support accurate financial reporting.
- Use QuickBooks to manage bookkeeping tasks and maintain reliable financial data.
- Communicate directly with clients to collect needed documentation, clarify account activity, and address reporting issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- At least 1 year of experience in public accounting or a closely related environment.
- Hands-on experience preparing tax returns for corporate, partnership, or individual entities.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks in an accounting or client service setting.
- Familiarity with tax preparation software such as Tax Pro or comparable applications.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize work effectively across multiple assignments.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- CPA license or active progress toward certification is preferred.
