About the role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in El Cajon, California. This role requires a proactive individual who excels in managing financial operations, driving efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with organizational standards. You will play a key role in overseeing accounting processes across multiple entities, supporting strategic business planning, and maintaining rigorous internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Oversee cash management processes, including petty cash, expense management, rent roll reviews, accounts payable, and approval workflows.
- Manage accounting operations for various entities, including intercompany allocations and inventory tracking for home sales and renovations.
- Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, cost accounting, and project accounting to support business growth and decision-making.
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting teams, including offshore staff, while providing leadership and guidance.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, maintain internal controls, and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
- Prepare and review corporate tax returns and sales tax filings, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
- Record and reconcile journal entries in adherence to established accounting standards.
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and workflows.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
- Proficiency in corporate tax, including preparation and filing of tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of sales tax regulations and compliance.
- Experience with journal entries and general ledger management.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and cost accounting.
- Ability to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teams.
